I spent the other night in the Emergency Department for my throat/esophagus problems. They gave me a shot in my rear that was suppose to help relax my muscles and hopefully the food would go down. That did not work so in the end I had to have the food removed by another upper GI endoscopy. The worst part of the procedure was the IV of course. They always have trouble with my IV and I was dehydrated. IT was not in right at first and was hurting so they tried on in my hand and that did not work. My hand now has a huge bruise on it. They went back to the arm and readjusted the first one and it finally stopped hurting. So they put me down and took my lunch out of my throat. This GI told me ( well told Scott because I was pretty out of it) that he want me to come in so he can do a stretch my esophagus with a balloon. It is not a permanent fix and may only work for a year or two. But I am willing to try anything. I do not want to go another 12 hours without being able to even swallow my own saliva.
For the next several days I was sore my calf and neck muscles felt like the were pulled. I was in a lot of pain. Luckily Scott was able to take the next day of the take care of me and help with the girls. I hope I never have to do this again.
